THIRD PLACE FOR ANIMALS — NOVEMBER 2024
MINIATURE PAINTERS, SCULPTORS AND GRAVERS SOCIETY OF WASHINGTON, DC

Linda was truly moved when she learned Home on the Range was recognized for Third Place for Animals. This painting was inspired after she visited the National Bison Range in Montana where the buffalo roam its 18,000 plus acres. As you read the painting's title, if you’re old enough, you may have started humming the famous tune by Gene Autry “Oh, give me a home, where the buffalo roam…” and then hummed the chorus “Home, home on the Range…” For all we know, the judge may have done just that!

FOR THE LOVE OF PETS AWARD — NOVEMBER 2024
CIDER PAINTERS OF AMERICA, MAINSTREET GALLERIES, KINGSTON, PA

Long Day at the Fair immediately caught the judges eye for The Love of Pets Award, as this miniature, without question presented the loving bond between child and animal perfectly. Linda happened to be at the right place at the right time at the New Jersey State Fair when she came across this young boy dozing with his arms lovingly wrapped around his calf. The emotion she felt at the sight of them touched her heart and she knew this tender moment had to be shared.

CHAIRMAN’S CHOICE AWARD — SEPTEMBER 2024
MOUNTAINSIDE ART GUILD, LAKEWOOD, CO

Some exhibitions don’t provide awards while others do. These awards can range from Best of Show, sometimes known as First Place, followed by Second Place, Third Place as well as Honorable Mentions. In some instances an addition award, such as Board of Directors, or a Chairman’s Choice Award is offered. Linda was very pleased to learn that out of 200+ miniatures exhibited in this year’s Mountainside Miniatures show, Odd Man Out was selected for the Chairman’s Choice Award. As stated by the show chairperson: “Odd Man Out is truly eye-catching and rich with detail. The painting is very pleasing and the title quite entertaining.”

BOARD OF DIRECTORS SPECIAL RECOGNITION AWARD — JULY 2024
PARKLANE GALLERY, KIRKLAND, WA

Although the judge for this year’s miniature art show didn’t select this painting for an award, Show Stopper was recognized for a Board of Directors Special Recognition Award by the board as an outstanding example of what miniature art is all about: excellent handling of the medium, exquisite detail, and overall presentation, including framing. Cock-a-doodle-doo!

SECOND PLACE FOR FLORAL & BOTANICAL — JANUARY 2024
MINIATURE ART SOCIETY OF FLORIDA

It is not often that a work of art evokes a feeling of childhood innocence and nostalgia. Butterfly Kisses, which depicts a graceful Monarch visiting a similarly adorned flower, accomplishes this feat with simplicity and viridity. Linda is delighted to announce that the tiny treasure has won yet another award, but this time from the Miniature Art Society of Florida’s International Miniature Fine Arts Exhibit, that was held at the Dunedin Fine Art Center, where it received Second in the Floral & Botanical category.
