| I've never
had the opportunity to visit Siberia, except through videos and
books. This painting actually started out as an early autumn
scene. Once I laid down the warm autumn tones, I didn't like
what I was seeing, so I decided to change the whole concept to
a winter setting. As I started to block in the snow, something
wonderful happened. The autumn colors I had painted blushed through
these new translucent layers of blue paint, creating a warm glow.
I then chose to emphasize that feeling by bringing in a soft
warm back light to exaggerate the contrast of the cold blue snow.
The "Blush" in the title comes from this happy accident! |
